Client: JCU Townsville Fire

Year: 2022-23 WNBL season

Goal: Manage social media profiles for maximum audience engagement & ticket sales

Managing the social media campaign for the professional women's basketball team was such a buzz! Not only did the Fire bring home the WNBL championship for the first time in five years, we also scored record-breaking social media results.


As part of our campaign management for the season, we undertook the following activities:

  • O
  • Tailored social media strategy across different profiles (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, TikTok & LinkedIn).
  • Proactive & reactive content creation, with a mix of photos, text, videos & graphics created to brand specifications. Posts / Stories / Reels / Updates were shared across platforms, including "on the ground" court-side live updates and attendance to other Fire team events.
  • Organic (unpaid) social media activity - including audience interaction & sharing to relevant Facebook Groups.
  • Meta advertising strategy & execution - including a series of short 'traffic' campaigns encouraging ticket sales in the lead-up to home games, alongside engagement & awareness campaigns.
  • Creation & administration of mini campaigns within the season, such as giveaways and notably the very successful "Paint the Town Orange" campaign in the lead up to the finals.
  • Continual communication & coordination with the Fire team, often delivering outcomes within very short time frames. We collaborated with other local businesses such as 537 Media and Constantine Create to deliver outcomes.

No doubt heavily influenced by the team's amazing performance, we saw some great results:

  • Record-breaking home game attendance.
  • Facebook saw 1.1 million more impressions compared to the previous season, and grew by 1098 Page likes (a whopping 9.94% growth rate compared to 2.17% for the previous period).
  • Strong results across all metrics on Instagram - including 17% growth in followers over the season, 112% jump in impressions and 129% jump in engagement (largely bolstered by Reels).
  • 113% growth in LinkedIn interactions (compared to the previous 6 months).
  • TikTok saw a 167% increase in followers and just over 55k video views.
  • Strong community engagement with the "Paint The Town Orange" campaign (approx 70 local businesses & organisations turned orange in support of the Fire).


As a high-five moment for us, Basketball Australia took note of the Fire's stellar social media activity and got in touch with us. We were pleased to create additional content specifically for the WNBL finals coverage.

Client: Magnetic Island Ferries

Year: 2022

Goal: Grow their online audience by using a giveaway to increase Facebook Page likes.

With over 10,000 Facebook Page likes, social media marketing has proven successful for Magnetic Island Ferries. The challenge is to keep the audience numbers increasing for future growth.


Magnetic Island Ferries have introduced an annual giveaway to help grow their social media audience. This is in collaboration with other Magnetic Island tourist operators, giving a mutual benefit while allowing a very enticing offer.


The 'Mega Maggie Escape' giveaway proved a huge success, resulting in 926 new Facebook Page likes in a two-week period. This surpassed the previous year's results and saw 10% Facebook Page growth.


As part of our campaign management for this giveaway, we undertook the following activities:

  • Content creation (videos & graphics) for use on social media.
  • Organic (unpaid) social media activity - including a mix of Posts / Stories / Reels across platforms, plus joining & sharing to relevant Facebook Groups.
  • Paid social media advertising - including extensive testing of multiple audiences with different creatives (ads), we could then scale the ads to provide the most cost-effective results.
  • Proactive warnings / communication to the audience about potential scams.
  • Administration of the giveaway itself (collating and checking validity of entries).
  • Communication & collaboration with the other operators.
