Google Ads Management to drive profit, not clicks.

A computer monitor with the word search on it, Google Ads

94% of Australians turn to Google as their favoured search engine, so it's hard to go past Google Ads for Search Engine Marketing (SEM).

Our Google Ads approach is centred on one thing: PROFIT. When you're paying per click, it's important to make those clicks count!

Our Google Ads gurus spend time establishing clear profitable goals with you. If you have an e-comm business, this will be your return on ad spend (ROAS). If you are reliant on leads, this will be your cost per lead (also known as your cost per conversion).

Our team are experienced in the technical set up, so we can connect your Google accounts (such as GA4 Analytics or Google Merchant Centre) with your website. This lets us accurately measure and report on your Google Ads results.

After your ads are up & running, we'll optimise your ads on a weekly basis to keep improving results. This is a systematic approach which includes:

  • removing irrelevant and/or expensive keywords
  • introducing new keywords based on what people have been searching
  • increasing budgets for top-performing keywords
  • reviewing your ads to maintain an 'Excellent' score
  • re-structuring or setting up new campaigns to maximise performance
  • cutting out underperforming ads / keywords

Client: Townsville Blinds & Awnings

Year: 2023-2024

Goal: To test Google Ads against Facebook Ads

After running Facebook Ads for several years, Townsville Blinds & Awnings wanted to test their advertising budget on Google Ads instead. As a benchmark, we looked at the leads (website forms submitted) over a 6 month period from September 2022 - February 2023. While running Facebook Ads during that period, the average cost per website lead was $114.

Aft
After keyword research and the set up of strategic Search campaigns, we commenced Google Ads in September 2023:

  • In the first month, the ads generated 9 leads at an average cost of $55 - already well below the Facebook results!
  • By December, the ads resulted in 13 leads at an average cost of $34.
  • In February 2024, the ads generated 26 leads at an average cost of $24.

Comparing to the same year-on-year 6 month period (September 2023 - February 2024), the average cost per lead while running Google Ads came down to $32.

With a HUGE decrease in cost per lead ($114 to $32), in this instance Google Ads have been a fantastic strategy to maximise a limited advertising budget. It's also nice to see that ads came in well below the industry benchmark too ($66 per lead for "Home & Home Improvement"). Woohoo!

Our Google Ads experts will continue to track and optimise the Google Search campaigns on a weekly basis. The goal will be to continue to improve results, before possibly looking at further expansion strategies.

Client: Townsville Mechanical Business

Year: 2023-2024

Goal: Generate online leads at a cost of $50 per lead.

After an onboarding discussion, we identified which Google Ads 'conversion' counted a valuable lead to the business - in this case, either an enquiry form submitted on their website, or a phone call over 60 seconds.

After all the boring tech set up was done, we worked hard to optimise their campaigns and drastically reduce their cost per conversion within the first two months of campaign launch.

This client kicked off their Google Ads with us at the start of April 2023...

  • In the first month, the ads generated 5 leads at a cost of $122 per lead.
  • By May, the ads generated 12 leads at an average cost of $51.
  • By September, the ads resulted in 23 leads at an average cost of $47 - below the goal!
  • By January 2024, the ads generated 23 leads at an average cost of $39. Well below the original goal, which means it's time to scale up!

The client has reported a definite increase in enquiries to their business. Our Google Ads experts will continue to update and improve results, before possibly looking at further expansion strategies.

Client: Step by Step Dancewear

Year: 2022-2023

Goal: Grow online sales while achieving a 400% ROAS (return on ad spend)

Managing the Google Ads for Step by Step has been a mutually beneficial project. The client was wanting to boost their online sales, and at the time we didn't have experience in running ads for e-commerce stores (previously only service-based businesses). We undertook an intensive Google Ads training course and having a previous relationship with Step by Step, approached them to see if we could run their Google Ads account.

Together, we established a budget and clear goal for their ads to be profitable. The ads would need to achieve a 400% return on ad spend (i.e. for every $1 spent on ads, it had to return $4 in sales).

In November 2022, the Google Ads achieved a 525% return on ad spend. This would no doubt have been boosted by Black Friday activity, but Step by Step have definitely noticed an increase in online sales and new customers since running Google Ads.

The Step by Step Google Ads management involves:

  • Connected the tech (code) with the website, allowing us to accurately track purchases.
  • Create audience re-marketing lists (using both their existing customer list & data which allows us to re-target website traffic at various stages of the purchase path).
  • Set up of different Search campaign types - including brand, non brand & dynamic search campaigns.
  • Created a product feed in Google Merchant Centre.
  • Set up a Shopping Campaign (where a product image & price appears in Google search results).
  • Ongoing optimisation of above campaigns.
  • Set up of short-term promotional campaigns as required.
